This is one of our favourite ghost stories we have read and heard about. It was also going to be our Halloween Live Investigation last year but due to the Covid pandemic we have had to postpone.
To begin, English Folklore will have us know that Black Shuck is a name given to an East Anglian ghostly black dog. It can also be known as Old Shuck, Old Shock or just Shuck.
The general and accepted appearance is of black shaggy fur, red glowing eyes, sharp snarly teeth and is the size of a medium dog. Others will tell you it has only one red eye and is the size of a calf. But either appearance would send shivers down our spines!
To some it's an omen of death to others it's a more companionable animal, it is classed as a cryptid but one things for sure it will creep up quietly and quickly as it will when leaving.

Woburn Road in Millbrook, Bedford was said to be the sighting of a Black Shuck. A woman claims she saw a large black shape leap over the hedge and land in the middle of the road without making a sound, within a week she had died from a heart attack through sheer fright. The same stretch of road is also known for other ghostly goings on but that's for another blog.
If you come across it do not look into it's eyes or listen to it's howl as legend will tell you that your death is certain and it will be within the year!
